Pittsburgh area monetary issues in the news today

Pittsburgh trash haulers are threatening to leave the city filled with garbage during the All-Star Game.  Now that’s rubbish! 

Gov. Rendell announced in a visit to East Liberty that the state was willing to provide additional money to the Fifth-Forbes project, but not as much as Millcraft had asked for it to provide.

Duquesne schools are looking for a business manager.  Job Description: Fix the Duquesne City School District’s $3.3 million deficit.  Alleviate conditions so bad that the officials running it have said that they can’t provide an adequate education to students and are looking to Pittsburgh schools for assistance.  Fire two business staff members to save money.

Although the Penguins are up for sale and the new owner could move the team because the Mellon Arena lease expires in 2007, Pittsburgh is looking for money to purchase properties for a new stadium.
