It looks like the series on why Charlotte is better than Pittsburgh in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette came to an end on Wednesday with an article about Pittsburgh expatriates in Charlotte. It’s a bit ironic that it ended the day before the Pittsburgh Business Times covered the announcement that a brokerage and investment banking firm opened an office in Pittsburgh. Perhaps Pittsburgh isn’t quite ready to bow to Charlotte’s banking might. But Charlotte’s Web around Pittsburgh hasn’t been completely lifted: Johnny Appleseed Children’s Theatre is putting on a production of Charlotte’s Web. Dates and times are in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Other reasons not to leave Pittsburgh:
1. There should be lower air fares after Jet Blue moves in, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
2. Pittsburgh is the third best mid-sized city for art.
3. Pittsburgh ranked first last year in farmer’s markets and community gardens per capita. A number of articles covered that news in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. I guess that is one reason for the excitement in Pittsburgh about Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. It also explains the presence of the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute in Pittsburgh. On a related note, Giant Eagle introduced its new “Market District” concept in Bethel Park and Shadyside, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
