Things to do in Pittsburgh this weekend

August 24th, 2006 · No Comments

In honor of (or in spite of) Pittsburgh’s ranking as the 8th drunkest city in America by Forbes.com, the 14th Annual Wine & Food Festival will be held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort (read about it here).  If that doesn’t satisfy your desires, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette provides a list of the best wine bars in Pittsburgh.

If you prefer charity events to forgetfulness, there’s three going on this weekend.  On Saturday evening, there is an ice cream fundraiser at the Pittsburgh Zoo to benefit the Pressley Ridge Opportunity Fund, which has received write ups in both the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.  Also on Saturday is the Twelfth Annual Fallingwater Twilight Tour for the preservation of Fallingwater.  Bark in the Park on Sunday supports Animal Friends, Pittsburgh’s only no-kill shelter.  (Read about it in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review here).

In case you hadn’t heard, you can celebrate your redneck lifestyle at the second annual Redneck Festival in Fayette County.

And, of course, don’t forget that the Steelers play Friday night.
