I love a good charity. Today, when browsing the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette online, I read this article about Cities of Asylum and I thought I would share.
I’m proud that Pittsburgh is one of the 4 cities in the United States that has sponsored persecuted writers as part of this group.
This is the second sponsor for the Pittsburgh chapter. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette coverage of the first sponsor can be found here and here.

Wow, I’d never heard of this group before, but as I sometimes fancy myself a writer, it’s good to know that programs like this exist. The power of the written word isn’t always appreciated much these days, but a good writer really can change the course of history and enrich the lives of thousands or even millions of people. Individuals with that kind of talent are rare and precious, and I’ve got nothing but respect for any group that supports them. Bravo Pittsburgh!
