Pittsburgh leaders unveiled a 3 year, $3 million marketing campaign to showcase the region’s attractions.  Ads with the slogan “Pittsburgh.  Imagine what you can do here.” will run in both local and national media online and off, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.  Previously, each county handled its own marketing, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.  Now, the campaign is going to be brought under one umbrella.  Sounds great to me!  I’m even a bit curious: What are these three Pittsburgh 250 signature events that are going to cost $40 million mentioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ????

It looks like the light-rail extension to the North Shore is actually going to occur, if I’m reading this article right.  The Federal Transit Authority agreement to provide 80 percent of the funding for the project is a go!  Finally!

Follow-up on the Allegheny County property tax appeal ruling:  While it looks as though homeowners can now argue that there assessment should be lowered based on its declining actual market value, it’s unlikely that the appeals will be successful.

Finally, a big welcome to the area needs to go out to Pop City Media, which is producing some great showcase articles on different Pittsburgh neighborhoods.  They’ve got the scoop on two stories (1) a grant for development of South Shore Riverfront Park along SouthSide Works, and (2) new condos and office space in Bloomfield.
