Collaboration: I have some ideas if you have some skills

November 10th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Two posts yesterday really hit home for me.

“One of the best parts about Web 2.0 is the focus towards online collaboration.”

The first post was on the Center for Realtor Technology blog.  It said, “One of the best parts about Web 2.0 is the focus towards online collaboration.”  Although the context of the post makes clear that the reference is to the integration of applications, I think that it is equally applicable to the information sharing and transparency of Web 2.0.

“We no longer want to be in the passenger seat in this exciting real estate technology journey.”

The second was Realivent’s post reintroducing their real estate website.  They’ve got some great language highlighting the changes that have been going on in online real estate.  They said, “For the past 6 months, we have been the proverbial passengers of the 2006 real estate technology race ….   This goes to show how fast technology moves in 6 months - even in Real Estate! … We no longer want to be in the passenger seat in this exciting real estate technology journey.

In that spirit, I’m looking for someone with some skills as a web designer who might be interested in partnering together on a couple of real estate type web projects.  My budget at the moment is practically nothing.

Wordpress Plug-In

The first project is a plug-in for wordpress for real estate blogs.  It’s something that I expect alot of Realtors would put on their blogs, and I’m shocked that no one has developed it yet.  I had thought that Sellsius might be developing it based on their teasers, but they’ve released their plugin and that wasn’t my idea.

Classified Ad Project

The second project is the development of a classified ad website for a real estate niche that is still back in Web 1.0 land.  Of course, there are already some in the field, but I don’t believe that any of them have used google maps to display their listings and only 1 of them makes available new listings by email (let alone RSS).  I MIGHT be able to throw together the site on my own, but I’d rather work with someone that knows what they are doing.

I’m happy to discuss either idea with anyone that is interested in working on them with me.
