It’s November 15th and that means that it is time to check in the real estate SEO contest which I announced at the beginning of November. For those that would like to join in the fun and learn more about how effective your blog is at capturing search engine rankings for a particular phrase, there’s still time. The contest concludes Jan. 1, 2007. You can get the full rules here.
I had promised a full breakdown of the top 5 for each of the search engines, and some pretty strict contest rules, but as the search engines haven’t yet picked up enough eligible entries, I’m going to reward the two participants ranking so far with links today.
The ranking participants are:
Barbara Lasky, with her real estate blog, Tucson Real Estate News. Her entry has been the most interesting, since she is ranking on Google for the domain name that she registered, on Yahoo for her main blog, and on MSN for tags to the contest on her blog. I imagine it is only a matter of time before her individual blog entry makes it to the top.
The Ubertor Real Estate Blog entry is ranking on Yahoo and the blog itself is ranking on Google, but it is nowhere to be seen on MSN.
Other things that I’ve noticed while following the contest:
- It took 3-4 days for my entry to be picked up in the search engines, even though the search engines visit my blog several times a day.
- Tags for the contest on Del.icio.us and Technorati, and a mention on Real Estate Voices are ranking.
- I’ve seen the phrase picked up on a couple of websites that have nothing to do with the contest. Very interesting.
Best of luck to everyone and a big thank you to Mary McKnight for some publicity on her article about Guerilla Blogging.
