I stumbled across a Realty Times article whose message can pretty simply be summarized as: Don’t steal other people’s content online. It’s against the law and you could get in trouble.
I agree with the central message, and I’d love to have a discussion of some of the statements in the article, but I feel it necessary to add two things:
First, I don’t think that people who are running splogs should be referred to as bloggers.
Second, the article points readers to the U.S. copyright office website at the Library of Congress for more information on the do’s and don’ts of copyright law. If you want to register a work, or search copyright records, then perhaps it’s a good read (both are on the index!). But when I have a question about the law and blogging, I usually start with The Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Legal Guide for Bloggers.
Update: This post has been heavily edited since the original post. Sometimes something that seems fun and playful in the evening just seems mean spirited in the morning. Sorry!

The Library of Congress? Only if you’ve got a few hours to kill. You’re right, EFF is definitely the place to go.
