Second Update to the Real Estate Blog SEO Contest

December 4th, 2006 · No Comments

December 1st has come and gone and I have yet to post the second update to the Real Estate Blog SEO Contest.  So here it is:

Leading the pack in Google and Yahoo is the real estate blog hosted by Barbara Lasky focusing on Tucson real estate.  Following up Tucson Real Estate in the News in Google and Yahoo is the Ubertor Real Estate Blog, run by a company producing real estate agent websites.

The order is reversed on MSN, where Ubertor has the lead and Tucson Real Estate in the News is second.

Entries are still lower than I had expected but I have nevertheless enjoyed following how the search engines have handled the posts for a new term.

Some interesting things I’ve noted:

1. My original post for the term is not in the top 2 on any of the top 3 search engines, even though it was the first post to be indexed.

2.  Blogs with the phrase in the title tags have the top 2 spots in the 3 search engines I’m following.

3.  The use of the phrase on social bookmarking sites ranks higher than my original post after one month on MSN but my site ranks higher in Google and Yahoo.

4. The keyword rich domain registered for the contest ranks above my original post in MSN, but below my original post in Google and Yahoo.

5. Yahoo has the trackback page from Tucson Real Estate in the News ranked #1 and their category page ranked #2.  Both MSN and Google have picked up the blog post instead.

That’s the latest from the Real Estate Blog SEO Contest.  It’s not too late to join if you’re interested in (a) seeing how your blog ranks against the others, (b) learning about how the search engines rank posts, or (c) just want a link from my blog.  The original contest page can be found here.
