I missed the news yesterday in the paper that the URA is going to take possession of the Garden Theatre on Wednesday. Thanks Doug for bringing it to my attention. Here is the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article on the news.
Now the question is whether the request for developer proposals that have been released for the surrounding properties (and available as a pdf on the URA website) will be delayed in order to include the Garden Theatre in the RFPs. If it indeed takes three months for the Garden to be prepared for walk through by developers, that is well beyond the current deadline of March for the other properties.
Whatever happens, it’s great news for the North Side! An appeal in the lawsuit over the Garden could have dragged on for another year (or more) if the case was taken to the Supreme Court.
