As part of the city’s 250th birthday bash (Tribune-Review), the Sprout Fund will provide grants (Post-Gazette) to neighborhood organizations and Pittsburgh residents to turn their ideas to commemorate Pittsburgh into reality.
Although the website that the Post-Gazette links to is currently parked, I’m sure that the Sprout Fund or Imagine Pittsburgh will soon have a prominent link to it.
I’m looking forward to writing a grant (though the idea is yet to be determined — if you have any ideas and would like to work collaboratively, let me know), and taking part in the festivities. If the events are anything like the ideas that came out of Engage Pittsburgh, they should be quite good. The Sprout Fund deserves a big shout out for its hard work.

Thanks for the praise. Community Connections will combine aspects of Sprout’s Seed Award program and Engage Pittsburgh initiative to support regional and grassroots projects that foster Pride & Progress in conjunction with the region’s 250th anniversary.
The URL mentioned in today’s Post-Gazette article for Community Connections is not yet live. Please visit http://www.imaginepittsburgh.com/about-pittsburgh-250/community-connections/index.aspx to learn more about Community Connections, Pittsburgh 250, and the Imagine Pittsburgh campaign.
You can also revisit the site next Tuesday, April 10, 2007 when full information about the program will be available online.
The deadline for project applications is not until Friday, September 14, 2007.
