One Year Blog Birthday

A page one ranking on Google for “Pittsburgh homes” and on the second page currently for “Pittsburgh real estate”.
15,000 visitors last year and 17,000 already this year (it’s about 4,000 unique visitors a month currently).

Propel Pittsburgh Commission - Why do I want to be on it?

Grants Available for Pittsburgh 250 Celebrations

As part of the city’s 250th birthday bash (Tribune-Review), the Sprout Fund will provide grants (Post-Gazette) to neighborhood organizations and Pittsburgh residents to turn their ideas to commemorate Pittsburgh into reality. 
Although the website that the Post-Gazette links to is currently parked, I’m sure that the Sprout Fund or Imagine Pittsburgh will soon have a prominent link to it.

The Sunny Side of a Declining Population

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette today has an article about the declining population in Pittsburgh.  Apparently, Pittsburgh has lost more residents since 2000 than any metropolitan area except New Orleans.  This resulted from both a lack of immigration and a declining birth rate.

A for Effort, C for Execution?

The Mayor’s plan to seize crime ridden properties from landlords, detailed in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette here, reminds me of the lawsuits from the music industry to stop the illegal distribution of music.
