More Pittsburgh Casino Delays

It has only been a few days since Don Barden and the Majestic Star Casino announced that it would not be able to meets its initial projection of opening in March 2008 because of delays in awarding the casino license.

Contagious Excitement

A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette editorial today noted that the 3.4 billion in projects in the works or in development in downtown Pittsburgh and the North Shore is bringing with it “contagious excitement.”
With the announcement of the Fairmont Pittsburgh and the conversion of the Century Building to loft-apartments (Tribune-Review article here), I’d have to agree.

On the heels of the news yesterday that US Airways selected Pittsburgh to host its operations center, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that nuclear engineering firm Bechtel has bowed to pressure from Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles Schumer and will only be transfering 70 jobs to Monroeville (rather than the expected 260).
