Lightning never strikes the same place twice, or so I’ve heard.
On that note, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported today that the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will not reopen the historic Allegheny branch on Pittsburgh’s North Side, which was closed after it was struck by lightning in April.
Officials with the Urban Redevelopment Authority named 1210 Federal St. [...]

Riverfront Pittsburgh
August 20th, 2006 · 6 Comments
My submission to last week’s carnival of real estate on virtual real estate received a “bummer” from brownstoner because I didn’t talk about Pittsburgh architecture. So with the concurrence of the pine needle lawn’s discussion of metro lake homes on Friday and today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article on RiverParc in Pittsburgh, I thought I’d talk a bit about [...]

My Problogger List Favorites
August 17th, 2006 · 8 Comments
I promised a list of my favorite lists earlier for those interested in the Group Writing Project, and with 238 entries to date over at Problogger, I was beginning to wonder where I would find the time to go through all the lists.
Bloggers near and far have come together to post their lists and learn [...]

Pittsburgh’s charms: business and the great outdoors
August 15th, 2006 · No Comments
At the end of June, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette ran a series about how Charlotte had become a giant banking center and its jobs were a major reason why some Pittsburgh residents headed to the Tarheel state.
Turns out those residents may have fled a little too soon.
Expansion Magazine named Pittsburgh the 9th best metropolitan area (overall) to relocate a business. Charlotte, [...]

Jumpstart your real estate blog (or any other blog for that matter)!
August 14th, 2006 · 10 Comments
Long time readers of Pittsburgh Homes Daily know that I love Problogger group writing projects. In June, when this blog was just 1 month old, I participated in my first project on blogging goals, and had such fun that I created a 40 entry long hit list of the entries of others. I’ve missed out [...]

A bit of construction
August 13th, 2006 · No Comments
After three months with this theme, and searching through numerous other wordpress themes on the internet, I decided that the theme was fine, but the blue/white color scheme had to go. Unfortunately, you’ll have to suffer through the glare of white temporarily until I find another color scheme that I like. If you have suggestions for a color scheme or header image that would [...]

The REAL virtual real estate game
August 11th, 2006 · 1 Comment
This is my submission to the Carnival of Real Estate hosted by Brownstoner. I had planned a more conservative article about architecture in Pittsburgh in honor of Brooklyn’s brownstones, but I’ve decided to use this forum instead to welcome thoughts from everyone as I think out loud.
I was quite surprised when reading Peter Coy’s Hot Property post this [...]

Primanti Brothers in Pittsburgh: A Diet Breaker
August 9th, 2006 · No Comments
I’m headed to the doctor tomorrow for a physical and when he asks why I’m a few pounds on the heavy side, I’m going to point him to this post and say it was all Primanti Brothers fault! If you haven’t tried it yet, then you aren’t allowed to call yourself a resident of Pittsburgh! [...]

Time to support the Steelers!
August 8th, 2006 · No Comments
The constant news of the Steelers training camp reminded me to put up a few blogs for those new to Pittsburgh sports (or Pittsburgh fans who are just new to blogs!) to follow. I also thought that it would be the perfect time for a first for this blog: a photo in a post!
The photo is of [...]
