That’s the report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette based on a poll conducted by American Style magazine. Last year, Pittsburgh ranked third.
Two quick comments on the article:
First, I was surprised that the article didn’t mention last night’s gallery crawl in the cultural district, which because of the good weather was very popular.
Second, the ranking is also interesting given that it comes just a [...]

Charles Landry - Pittsburgh Charm Bracelet Project Lecture
April 20th, 2007 · 1 Comment
The lecture last night by Charles Landry for the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh charm bracelet project often reminded me of a bad college lecture [EDIT: not for lack of effort on the part of Mr. Landry - who really tried to keep it lively - just that it was a large group with uncomfortable chairs listening to 1 person speak [...]

Pittsburgh Home Sales Steady
April 18th, 2007 · No Comments
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review noted today that home sales held steady in the Pittsburgh region from Jan. to March. The story pretty much tracks every report I’ve seen on Pittsburgh housing over the last year: Not up big. Not down big. Just steady.
The much more interesting numbers will be April through June.

Interview with Pittsburgh-based Mobile Content Company: MoGoes
April 18th, 2007 · No Comments
Last month, Pittsburgh-based mobile media company MoGoes created a buzz around Pittsburgh when it announced that it would be working with Visit Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership to create mobile content for downtown Pittsburgh. North Shore Pittsburgh traffic concerns

There was an editorial in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (not written by the Post-Gazette) a while back about the difficulties of development in Pittsburgh. When I read it, I thought the author was wrong. I think I may now have to apologize.
There is an article today in the Post-Gazette that the attorney for the Science Center, the new casino’s neighbor, ”may” seek [...]

For real estate agents, the marketing method for a home generally is:
Take great pictures.
Put it on the MLS and the internet.
Run a couple open houses.
Tell other agents about it.
Advertise in newspaper.
Hope it sells, the home is “improved,” or the [...]

Pittsburgh’s downtown construction projects
April 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment
Last weekend, I was having a conversation with someone about the number of downtown projects that are in the planning/construction stages and expected to open in 2008-2009. Today, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette goes so far as to say that “[b]y late 2009, you might not recognize the place.”
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has put together a list [...]

URA to FINALLY acquire Garden Theatre
February 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment
I missed the news yesterday in the paper that the URA is going to take possession of the Garden Theatre on Wednesday. Thanks Doug for bringing it to my attention. Here is the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article on the news.
Now the question is whether the request for developer proposals that have been released [...]
